HabiTerre was founded in 2020 by Kaiyu Guan and his colleagues at the University of Illinois-Urbana Champaign. Dr. Guan remarked, “I have been familiar with Nick’s work, and known him through industry conferences for some time, and have been excited by his passion and vision for a more sustainable planet through agriculture. I could not be more pleased that he has chosen to join us to lead HabiTerre to its next level of growth.”
Daphne Preuss previously led HabiTerre as its interim CEO. A veteran entrepreneur and business leader in the agricultural and biotech spaces, she recruited the company’s seasoned executive team, and under her leadership the company has become a leading provider of agricultural data and insights, serving a variety of companies across the agriculture value chain, and counting Fortune 500 companies among its clients.
Preuss remarked, “HabiTerre has cultivated an enthusiastic base of customers who value the accuracy and scalability afforded by our first-in-class scientific approach. With Nick’s arrival, the company is now poised for growth and will benefit greatly from his expertise in agriculture and sustainability. He’s the ideal leader to take on this challenge.” Preuss will continue to support the company as a member of its Board of Directors.
“In order to adapt to and mitigate climate change at the speed and scale necessary, accurate and cost-effective quantification of environmental impacts is a critical need faced by every industry. This work is especially challenging in the dynamic world of agriculture, and I am inspired by the efforts of the HabiTerre team to tackle this problem,” said Reinke. “Accurate quantification enables our partners to make confident decisions, report on their impacts, and provide the assurance necessary to support the development of environmental markets to provide incentive mechanisms to accelerate change.”
